After startup (and in idle state), KDE Neon 5.15 used about 500 mb ram (I have a few startup programs). After upgrading to 5.16 (with the same startup programs), the ram usage just after startup (or while idle) has increased to almost 1 gb. `Plasmashell` takes a lot more memory (~ 280 mb) than before (~100 mb).
Although this change is negligible for machines with high memories, this still makes KDE Plasma 5.16 heavier than Ubuntu Mate and Cinnamon (which Plasma 5.15 was not). Should this be posted as a bug report? If yes, where? |

Hi,
Just updated my system to 5.17.1 after working with it for a little while I noticed a rather high memory usage compared with previous releases. I checked the possible culprits and plasmashell was using about 2.9 GB of RAM just with yakuake, firefox and a few widgets up and running. Just to be sure I created a clean account with no KDE previous configurations nor widgets and logged in, checked memory usage and got plasmashell using 700 MB. In previous releases it rarely got to 400 MB in such conditions. I think something worth checking out went with the 5.17.1 release.
Thanks and have a great day...
