Any idea of the problem ? SM Which theme? How old is it? Depending on the theme, you might try disabling Blur in the Desktop Effects section of System Settings. I believe Xrender does not support this effect, so you don't get the blurring that may removing the transparency. Not sure it is specific to Plasma 5.16, I have similar issue with transparent panels in 5.15 as well, until I turn off the Blur effect. claydoh, proud to be a member of KDE forums since 2008-Oct, and KDE user since 2001

I have used this one myself, and Blur has to be disabled for transparency to work, both on intel and AMD for me.
