I hardly ever use Discover ( I still prefer Muon or Synaptic for gui) but can confirm this bug still exists as described. When using cli I use pkcon refresh/update and to make sure flatpaks are updated flatpak list/flatpak update.

I can confirm what David Berry wrote in the bug report. If you uninstall plasma-discover-backend-flatpak, plasma-discover stops crashing. I uninstalled it with muon. Also I noticed that if you use the built-in bug report app it doesn't install either the flatpack or snap backend dbgsym packages just the main one. @claydoh Ty for the link.

Gratulations to you. But it doesn't work in my case. I uninstalled plasma-discover-backend-flatpak with synaptic. Discover still crashes. I installed KDEneon yesterday. Discover installed the updates successfully. But when I click on a button like "applications" , discover crashes. I applied all suggested "solutions" on the bug-report-site. Nothing helps. |

I have the same issue, as do others, but for now all we can do is wait for the developers to fix it.

Just updated this weekend from Kubuntu to KDE Neon (with huge pain due to inexperience), the last problem seems to be Discover crashing trying to check for updates.
Not sure if it's due to my Neon unusual installation path, I was wondering if my case can be related to the problems reported in this thread. Discover is crashing with this message https://i.imgur.com/VZ7LIVf.png Using CLI I got these results
Being not an expert I tried to use Muon, just trying to update at least one thing (Chrome just as experiment), and after that the apt update changed in
Any relationship with here reported problems, due to Discover bug? |

Fix should be available in all neon editions. To update use `pkcon refresh && pkcon update`.

Tested this earlier in the morning and had no updates. Discover still crashing. Saw this post now and pkcon found updates. Did all of them and now Discover is not crashing anymore. Thanks for your work! |

I've just installed the latest updates a few minutes ago - security updates included - and Discover is performing properly and no crashing.
I did a restart after the update just in case it made a difference and then tested it. It all seems to be fixed as far as I am concerned. I used Synaptic to update. Thanks, to the Developers and Jonathan. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411286 Status: "Resolved Fixed".

I think that this issue has now been fixed. After installing some updates this evening using muon, discover seems to be working correctly.

Ran synaptic one more time then had Discover update 2 Nvidia drivers and all is well for me. No reboot required.
Migrated from Linux Mint 17.3/18.3 KDE to KDE neon User Edition.
