Hello,

Last night I ran the update tool in KDE Neon and it brought in kernel 5.3. After reboot my GTX 550 ti with driver nvidia-driver-390 was not working. I have tried reinstalling the driver but it didn't change anything.

Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GF116 [GeForce GTX 550 Ti] bus-ID: 01:00.0 chip-ID: 10de:1244
Display Server: X.Org 1.19.6
drivers: fbdev,nouveau (unloaded: modesetting,vesa)
Resolution: 800x600@75.00hz
OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 9.0, 256 bits)

I wonder if anyone else has had this issue and if I could get some advice to resolve it.

thanks

Hi!
there`s problems with 5.3 kernel, you can use the open drivers instead.
sudo apt remove --purge *nvidia*
You can remove propietary drivers with this command

Thanks for the response.

My work around was to boot into the 5.0 kernel and use ukuu to remove the 5.3.

On my laptop, which is all intel hardware, the 5.3 kernel seems to be working just fine.

My work around was the same. BOINC has to have its GPUs when I'm not here.

For those who run into this problem and don't know how to get out of it (but happen to have another method of getting here)

https://www.logikalsolutions.com/wordpr ... 0-upgrade/

Should be pretty straight forward.
