Hi!
I was thinking of migrate to KDE Neon. I installed it Wednesday and installed all programs I use plus my UT2004 game. Everything works fine. There was some updates yesterday and I installed them and now there is no sound in UT2004. System sound and Spotify has sound, but not my game. I was thinking I did something wrong so I reinstalled KDE Neon choosing to download updated packages during installation. No sound in the game. Seems that the packages I updated in the first install is whats kills the sound. Stupid enough, i did not noted what packages that I updated and the log is now gone of those as I reinstalled. Seems there is not to be much activity on this forum, so where should I report this? Ubuntu forum perhaps? |

From the Neon FAQ: " KDE neon focuses on KDE software, most other software is not supported and you should not be surprised if you can not install it or it stops working at any point in time due to an update"...
Neon is probably not the one to choose if you want to run anything non-KDE on it. Of course I am quite biased, but Kubuntu with the Beta PPA will give you about the same as Neon, but is more likely to work with non-KDE applications as well.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Made some testings on this problem. I installed Kubuntu 18.04 (same as Neon uses) and the problem is there as well. Sound works till first update. I installed Kubuntu 19.10 and the sound works there. I could be happy with that but I use other program that need the kde4libs that Debian is removing. This problem will not be solved for me.
Don't you just love this update-mania the world is addicted to? |
