Hi,

since the last upgrade to 5.18.2 my sddm lock screen has no backgroundimage its just blank (black).
the buttons and login forms are visible and working fine.

Important, this happens only on the first login when the PC has freshly booted, only the lock screen that start automatically after 10 Min, has this problem. i can make it working again by reapply the Breeze Theme under System Settings -> SDDM -> Theme, but this will only last to the next reboot.

any suggestions?

After making the change you want to make; System Settings, Startup and Shutdown, Login Screen (SDDM), Advanced "Settings synchronization:" Can you click and try Sync?

I tried the sync button, nothing changes

but i found a lot of errors in the syslog

Do you mean sddm screen or Plasma Desktop lock screen?
If I'm not mistaken, then sddm itself does not have lock screen.
Plasma lock screen: System Settings -> Workspace behaviour -> Screen locking -> Look&Feel etc...
SDDM: System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Initial Startup Screen -> Theme etc...
As my Plasma is in estonian, then I translated - could be not exact translation but you can probably understand...
