no kde

Mon May 18, 2020 2:33 pm
Hi, as my errors with installing neon i tried an older iso from 2019 that works on my homePC.
so i installed an reboot but than a black monitor appears. KDE can't start. First i had the nouveau driver and than i installed nvidia-driver-390. I get no errors but after rebooting the same error. No KDE. A black screen. In Xorg.log there are 2 errors:
EE [drm] Failed to open DRM device for (null): -2

do you have any hints?
Thanks in advance

Something to try, not sure it will work for you, but I have used it on several occasions when booting to a blank screen with just a cursor (usually after something happens, either a fresh install, an update, or some sort of crash). Upon boot (i.e. at the blank screen), can you get to a TTY, e.g. Ctl+Atl+F2? If you can, log in with you user name and password. Enter these commands:
Code: Select all
pkcon refresh
pkcon update
If all goes well, reboot:
Code: Select all
sudo reboot now

Currently running KDE Neon 5.22.5 and 5.19.4 (with Windows 10 in a VM); migrated from Linux Mint 17.3
