So with one of the latest upgrades libstdz1 amd64 got updated to 1.4.4 and that got llibzstd1:i386 (1.3.3) uninstalled, which in turn got mesa drivers and a bunch of steam dependencies uninstalled. Ultimately Steam itself was uninstalled. I regretfully use to click OK without reading the messages when updating.
If someone has the same problem I just downgraded amd64 version of libzstd1 with:
Afterwards I just installed steam again. The dependencies were also subsequently installed without problem and the application started normally too. |

Not a Neon issue, the libzstd1 version used is still at the stock Ubuntu 18.04 version and packaging , this update probably is from an external source.
Never lost my Steam install or anything else here.

Guilty as charged! I forgot to check the package source. It is indeed an external PPA.
