long login time

Wed Aug 19, 2020 1:19 pm
Hi everybody,

for quite a while now plasma takes a long time to log in - somewhere between 20-30s, which is annoying. Any hints how I could start troubleshooting this problem, maybe logging processes after login?

One thing I already found out that baloo-file is using a lot of disk activity, and akonadi autostarts as well and does a lot of stuff. I don't know, though, how to prevent akonadi from automatic startup (it didn't do this before, but started about a year ago or so).

Is there any way to exactly log what happens right after login until the desktop is ready for use?

Thanks in advance!

Some more information about your exact Plasma version, system specs and distribution might be helpful...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
