Hi,
Since the system update to new Ubuntu (I think), the alsa is drive me crazy. Sometimes it doesn't recognize the computer sound... sometimes it doesn't recognize the headphones... or the HDMi sound... So I need to use "alsa force-reload" and reboot the system. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. Some thoughts? Many thanks |

This is not your solution but somewhere with the release of 20.04, a regression-bug-whatever was introduced for--in my case--HDA Intel PCH hardware
I ranted at length on the Kubuntu forum to the point where for a few months after this release, I used Manjaro only because my devices worked as expected a few days ago, I was finally able to install KDE neon and that works as expected I say "finally" because not only was some audio not working but one couldn't do root functions as well... but neon seems--for now at least--to have resolved those issues whereas Kubuntu does not work all audio services as expected...
KDE neon 5.20 - Plasma 5.20.5 - Frameworks 5.78 - Qt 5.15.2 - Kernel 5.4.0-65

I see. I my case it's also a Intel hardware... so, maybe there is a issue there
