Hi all,
now that Neon was updated to Ubuntu 20.04 what will happen to the 18.04 release? Will it be updated (package release or security) or it's kind of discontinued? Is there any kind of "backporting support"? I love to have the latest KDE packages but I can't update to 20.04 anytime soon. Maybe this question was already answered but I wasn't able to find it, if so sorry for the duplication. Thanks |

The updates to KDE Plasma, -Frameworks and -Apps will stop. The base Ubuntu 18.04 will continue to recieve security updates until bionic is supported. Also the software you installed using ppa repositories will get updates until 18.04 is supported by them. |

Neon will stop creating packages for 18.04, probably in the very near future if the pattern from the 16.04 to 18.04 upgrade is any indication. You eventually won't get any more Plasma updates at all, but will continue to get OS level security updates from Ubuntu for quite some time, as well as periodic kernel upgrades. Firefox should stay up to date as well. As Acrux mentioned, any PPAs you have, being Ubuntu related, will get updates as long as whoever runs each particular one provides packages for Bionic.
