Upgrade to 20.04 aborted

Sun Sep 20, 2020 7:18 am
I have been trying to upgrade KDE Neon to 20.04 for the past few days. When the upgrades are installing, several popups appear, saying a package could not be installed, reason being, "triggers looping, abandoned".

The complete list of the packages is
    linux-image-5.4.0-42-generic
    sgml-base
    libvlc-bin
    linux-image-5.4.0-47-generic
    dbus
    libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0
    ca-certificates
    tex-common
    mesa-amdgpu-vdpau-drivers

When the upgrade is finished, a final popup appears, saying "Could not install upgrades. The upgrade has aborted."
After the failed upgrade, I can boot, but am limited to command line input only. After the update, there is a long list of broken packages.

Does anyone have any insight into why the upgrade isn't happening smoothly for me?
