KDE Upgrade to 20.04 not working

Mon Sep 21, 2020 2:03 pm
Hi all,

I have encountered a problem, any help will be deeply appreciated. When I log in to my computer I am welcomed with the "Upgrade to 20.04" prompt (I have not upgraded yet). However, when I try to upgrade (I click on the "Upgrade" button in the prompt, confirm that I want to upgrade and fill in the password for restricted operation), the upgrade process seems to start but the window disappears after a while (I assume after the "fetching files" phase, but I am not sure), and nothing happens (no related process is running that I am aware of). The upgrade option is no more visible in the control panel. When I reboot I am again offered to upgrade to 20.04 (with the same result).

I've also tried
Code: Select all
apt dist-upgrade
but "all packages are up-to-date". I am not even sure how to re-launch the upgrade to the new Ubuntu (KDE neon) other than rebooting. As I am not able to run it from konsole, I cannot tell if there is an error message (from the user point of view the upgrade window just disappears and that is it).

Could anyone please help me?
