fstab drives not connected at boot

Fri Oct 16, 2020 1:05 pm
I am using KDE Neon 5.2. I have some NAS drives. In fstab on my laptop, connected wirelessly, I added instructions in /etc/fstab to mount the drives. eg.

Code: Select all
//192.168.1.111/Drive1        /mnt/Drive1    cifs guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8,vers=1.0 0 0

If I issue a
Code: Select all
sudo mount -a
these drives get mounted, but they don't get mounted at boot. How can I get them to mount at boot time?

I guess you mean Neon 5.20

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Hi,

assuming your Samba-setup is valid (I never used it) you just have to wait for the network to be setup before the mounting works. The easiest way is to add _netdev to your fstab-entry. If this does not work either, set up a systemd-mount-unit.
