My ten Activities each do have their own wallpaper. From time to time in one to three of the Activities the wallpapers are gone, I get to see the default wallpaper there. This 'disappearing' happens at random over the ten Activities. This happens on both my desktop computers with KDE Neon 20.04 LTS, clean installed. My laptop - upgraded - does not have the issue. I think it's happening since KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.1 or perhaps 5.20.2.
Has anyone an idea why this is happening and what I can do about it? System (both desktop computers): Operating System: KDE neon 5.20 KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 Kernel Version: 5.4.0-52-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz Memory: 7,7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: GeForce GT 640/PCIe/SSE2 |

Hi!
Just an idea: Are the wallpapers located on a network-storage, e.g. a nfs or sshfs-share? They could not be available soon enough which would explain the random occuring issue. |

No, in both computers the wallpapers are on an internal SATA HDD. I looked into plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc where activities and wallpapers are summed up. In that file the wallpapers that disappeared are not listed anymore. So, some proces writes to that file in Shut Down or Restart or after during starting up again. I changed the positioning of every wallpaper, I changed the name of the wallpaper folder, both to no avail. I simply don't get it.

As i know the wallpapers disappear if not available. Thats why I asked for network shares. If they are locally on a default ext4/btrfs/zfs-device, that cannot be the problem.
You could check the logs for warnings/errors since last boot with
