I don't know if this happened because of an update, but recently the 'Shut Down', 'Restart' and 'Sleep' options have (sporadically) disappeared from my Application Menu. I have to log out, then select these options from the log-in screen if I need them. They are sometimes there, but I can't see a pattern as to when or why.
I thought it might be my theme (Otto) messing something up, but I tried switching back to Breeze and no difference. Here is the menu when it shows correctly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r0v46g50ebcujh6/Good%20Shutdown%201.png?dl=0 and here is how it looks most of the time, since a few days ago: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jdvdn0m9sp0yi4k/Bad%20Shutdown%201.png?dl=0 Notice no icons for those options in the top left of the menu, either. Was it something I did? Any ideas?

It's ok, I swapped it to Application Launcher, then back and it seems to have solved things. Just a glitch apparently.

No, I was wrong: The application menu is still not showing properly. If I swap to the Appliction Launcher and then back to the App Menu it's ok for a bit, but then reverts to not showing shutdown options properly, as I described above.
I lie using the menu more than the launcher. Anyone willing to make a guess as to what's happening? Thanks. |

Another possible option is - right click menu icon, select Edit Application which brings up Menu Editor, select Save which updates the system.
I've had to use this when "installed" appimages corrupt the menu totally - I don't install them now. Other options to exit are Ctl+Alt+Del keys or right-click anywhere on desktop and select "Leave" - both give options. Jim |
