xserver-xorg-hwe-20.04 missing?

Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:35 pm
Hi,
I have a fairly standard kde neon installation. I wanted to move to HWE stack with:
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-20.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-20.04
based on:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack

However package:
xserver-xorg-hwe-20.04 is missing in my Neon repos. I am not sure if my installation is somehow broken or is it "normal". Does anyone know if we could/should use HWE stack on Neon?

No, it is not broken. The hwe packages are not in Neon's repos actually, they would be in the normal Ubuntu repos, but it is not there for whatever reason.

it may be that ubuntu won't have official hwe stuff until closer to when 20.04.2 is released - in February 2021.
I know that there is an hwe kernel package in the repos, and I have not yet discovered any specific reason why there is no companion hwe xorg package.

Thank you for your reply.
The fact that there is kernel hwe-20.04 and no xorg hwe package for 20.04 was so confusing for me.
