Hi,

I would like to install KDE Neon in a dual boot environment with Win10.
Also, I need an encrypted OS.

So I made an encrypted LUKS partition for SWAP and root.

After booting KDE Neon from a USB-stick into the live environment I open a terminal and mount the encrypted partition KDE Neon shall be installed on:
Code: Select all
sudo cryptsetup open /dev/nvme0n1p6 nvme0n1p6_crypt

Then I start the installer with custom disk options and set the Windows Boot Manager partition to /boot/efi and an unencrypted EXT4 partition of 1000 MB to /boot.
The encrypted big partition is set to "/" as mount point and the swap partition stays formatted as swap.

During installation different errors occur, e.g. an RSYNC error or "/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?)"

So, it seems that the encrypted volume is unmounted during installation.
Also, before starting a new installation attempt I need to mount it again.

How can I prevent the encrypted partition from unmounting during installation?

Thank you very much.

I happened to me right now when I was trying to go back to KDE Neon after trying plain ubuntu for a while.

It seems that calamares's support for luks/lvm is just broken: https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues/1564
