KDE-nomodeset notification

Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:47 am
KDE Neon NVIDIA graphics were installed successfully months ago, today I get a "kde-nomodeset" notification stating it is running in safe mode. The NVIDIA X Server settings is working fine and I when I checked "apt search nvidia-driver*" the latest drivers are installed version 460. I am using KDE Plasma v5.21. Any ideas or suggestions why I am getting this message? Thanks.

You've installed from safe graphics mode meaning your system runs in safe graphics mode meaning the linux kernel can't do mode setting https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke ... de_setting . The notification is telling you about that and get you disable the safe graphics mode because it's generally not meant to be used persistently but as a bandaid to be able to fix the system, which you've done, and should be disabled afterwards.

Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.
