Howdy I have an old Lenovo x220 with latest bios update installed circa 4th Oct 2019

I am trying to dual boot install with Windows 10 with GPT:
(1) Legacy bios install identifies the usb and starts the installer, it even recommends GPT partitioning, however I don't get a grub screen and it jumps straight to windows
(2) UEFI boot install from USB installer goes to black screen (so sadly I have no logs or screen shots).

Not a deal breaker I'll just go back to using Kubuntu in UEFI, but I was wondering if it was that my UEFI bios was old or it was the neon installer itself.
Again sorry I cannot get any logs, It's a bit of a "hail mary" for somebody's best guess.

I had what seems to be a similar issue wit UEFI. I hit the "enter" key at the blank/black screen after selecting the USB flash drive image, and it proceeded to boot.
