So I'm a long time Debian user, interested in giving Neon a spin. However, I see in the FAQ (who reads those?!) that it says NOT to use apt for all installs/updates, but instead use pkcon. Having never used pkcon, my brief research says it's just a unified front-end which translates to whatever backend package manager is native to a particular distro. Ok, cool. But why does Neon then require using it, rather than just simply using apt? Is there magic/configuration in pkcon which solves package dependency/version tracking for Plasma vs LTS which apt doesn't do or something?
