dpkg overwrite option not working

Thu Jul 08, 2021 4:58 pm
Hi all,
Haven't posted here much, so please let me know if I need to edit my post in any way. I've been having an update error for a few weeks now, and my searches for solutions have not been fruitful. The error persists whether I use Discover or pkcon in the terminal.

Here is the error:
Code: Select all
Fatal error: Error while installing package: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/icons/breeze-dark/actions/16/add-subtitle.svg', which is also in package breeze-icon-theme 4

As the title says, I attempted the --force-overwrite, but it did not fix the issue. Anyone know what I can do?
------
Edit:
Apologies for not including this beforehand! Here are my system specs:
Operating System: KDE neon 5.22
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Kernel Version: 5.8.0-59-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz
Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with Max-Q Design/PCIe/SSE2

The error I'm receiving occurs whenever I try to apply a system update via either the terminal or via Discover.
I will attempt to remove kdenlive to see whether it is the source of the problem.

What distro? This is not a KDE specific problem, but one related to the distro and whatever package sources you have added to it.
What specific package are you trying to force, and what was the specific command used? What did the output of that command show?

I will venture you are using KDE Neon, and perhaps have added a PPA for Kdenlive, which is unnecessary in Neon as they provide the latest version themselves

But more info about your setup would help.
