My Specs Mobil GPU Nvidia 1700 Intel i7-7700HQ Intel Graphic HD630 16 GB DDR4 Ram
I do everything what I found online to run KDE Neon Desktop with Wayland. I have video editing software that's run fine one Xorg, but the performances is bad with wayland. The reason is, the window's manager non access to my nvidia card. Runs only with integrated intel graphics card. I had read, that nvidia optimus works better together with wayland with last updated nvidia driver. I need just to wait for an update of KDE Neon or is there anything else to do? |

I think that the project is not ready yet. I have an Nvidia 2060 here, the desktop also starts with Wayland, but it is unusable. Without any graphics acceleration. So i think waiting, is the only option.

Even with Intel graphics it is still not there... For example Plasma "start" menu items can be still hidden under the panel.
Included Thunderbird 78 do not operate correctly with Wayland (Thunderbird 91 does, but not yet included) etc etc... |

Been using Wayland on my laptop for some months now, can't recall how long, it may be ~6 months.
No major issues lately, with only the (to me) minor difference in copy/paste - I seem to need to physically use a copy action as opposed to my long standing highlight-to-copy usage. Screen rotation is automatic and fast, compared to custom workarounds and slowness on xorg. on screen keyboard could use some work still, but recently has improved immensely. With KDE-Framework Update 5.85=>5.86 runs a bit smother. Seems select and paste are fixed

Hmm, I do not see anything related to select&paste in changelog... https://kde.org/announcements/frameworks/5/5.86.0/ Edit: OK, giving it a new chance. The start menu lower items are still hidden under the panel. I'm not starting the kde wayland session from sddm, but booting to runlevel 3 and starting wayland with:
and I have "export MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1" in /etc/environment. I'm running Thunderbird 91 binary version until it gets into focal. |

Since KDE 5.23 wayland is working much more better with nvidia. Almost smart.
