KDE NEON, on two different machines suffered from the same problem. The update in KDE NEON (5.23.0) to kernel 5.11.0-38.42~20.04.1breaks the machine with an Nvidia video card. (470.63.01 driver). I have to use 5.11.0-37-generic to get access to the system. Booting stopped with Motherboard logo. Is this a local problem or are we waiting for an new update?

Fixed it. The problem is the 470 driver from nvidia. I now installed the 460 driver and that works fine with the latest kernel.

Code: Select all
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-460

This may be corrected now - as a nvidia driver 470.4 has been added this afternoon.
