Is there a good KRDC alternative?

Fri Nov 12, 2021 1:10 am
Been using, and enjoying, KRDC for quite some time now. But scaling the remote desktop to fit the client windows has been broken in the latest versions of KRDC. That is a feature I rely on almost every day, so I'm forced to look for an alternative VNC client for KDE. Or possibly a way to roll back KRDC to an earlier version when scaling still worked.

You can try Remmina, even though it is written in gtk and not qt it will work as client.

Yes, I've used Remmina before when I was using GTK desktops, but since switching to KDE my goal was to use KDE apps whenever possible. But, I suppose when a working KDE application for my task does not exist, I must rely of something that does work. Thanks for the reply.

OS
Otherwise Plain RDP. Everything has worked best with it so far. For example:

Code: Select all
xfreerdp /u:peter /p:'secret' /d:office.lan +fonts -sec-nla /cert-ignore /clipboard /workarea +smart-sizing /printer /drive:HOME,/home/$USER/Downloads /sound /v:HOSTNAME_OF_YOUR_SERVER

xfreerdp /u:peter /p:'secret' /d:office.lan +fonts -sec-nla /cert-ignore /clipboard /dynamic-resolution /w:2560 /h:1320 /scale-desktop:160 /scale-device:180 /printer /drive:HOME,/home/$USER/Downloads /sound /v:HOSTNAME_OF_YOUR_SERVER
