use winehq's how-to
https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu Make sure you follow all the instructions, using info for Ubuntu 20.04, and also specifically to remove all existing wine packages from your system. You will need to use Muon/Synaptic, or the command line to do so.

This is exactly the guide I followed. I even purged the default wine 5.0 from the system. What else can I do to clean out old wine? |

Resolved. Was a repo issue. Needed to remove some and leave only the focal one.
