Today I updated KDE neon on my desktop, after a while
After I restarted the system and the updates were installed (no errors), I found KDE broken Window title bars and borders are gone. Just missing, for any and all windows Like this: ![]() Everything else seems normal, but the system became unusable What could be happening here? I have no idea where to begin to debug this and I really dont wanted to reinstall the OS now Any help will be much appreciated |

Same thing happened to me. When updating through discover it told me that it would need to delete 'kwin-x11' to install a bunch of packages. Against my better judgement, I still installed the updates.
I haven't had any problems with the Wayland session, so you can log in to a Wayland session on the login screen. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.. |

This is the same issue described here: viewtopic.php?f=309&t=174973
Until they release these 32-bit packages, `sudo aptitude install kwin-x11` might help. But you'd best say "no" to its plans until it shows one you can live with. (It's gonna show different combinations of packages it can remove or downgrade to make it work). I wish Wayland worked with me… |

Hello everyone, the same problem happened to me today. If I try with "sudo aptitude install kwin-x11" I get this:
If i try to update with "sudo pkcon update" I get this:
It is written in Italian, I hope you will still be able to understand it. Thank you for any help. |

Thank you for the answers.
So Im not alone. Wayland is not working for me either: when I select it at the login screen, after the login Im just taken back to the login screen Ill try the other solution and report back edit: aptitude install kwin-x11 did the trick for me. Various solutions were presented, as you said, I choose the 4h or 5th one kinda at random, cause it looked good (unfortuntely I didint take note of its details) and after a reboot everything was back to normal |

I got bit by the same thing yesterday. Trying to install kwin_x11 didn't work for me... there were dependency issues. I had a backup of my system, so I thought I would try to "fix it"... but it just went deeper and deeper. Wound up restoring... It would have been nice if there was some sort of warning that they were making such a pivotal change. I assume I should hold off on applying updates for a while, while this gets sorted out... but how long?

Has anyone reported an official bug on bugs.kde.org ? I've looked for it, but couldn't find any trace. And it's important as the KDE developer team is pretty responsive to the official bugs whereas I'm under the impression that they rarely check this forum...
EDIT: There is a bug already reported, I've finally found it: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454319 |
