With *ubuntu 22.04 Firefox will be installed as a snap. The current version of KDE Neon doesn't use the Firefox Snap.
I was hoping I could stay away from Snap if possible. Are there any plans to move to Firefox Snap for KDE Neon as well? |

Since Neon only deals with packaging Plasma and doesn't really develop things for the underlying Ubuntu OS, it is pretty safe to assume that Firefox will be a Snap.
There are different ways of dealing with this, however, if one chooses to.

Thank you for the feedback. I was afraid so. I hoped that KDE Neon might stick to Debian in this case.
I'm aware that I could stick to the precompiled version provided by Mozilla, instead of using the Snap provided via the *ubuntu/kde neon repositories. What other approach would you see? |

That's disappointing to hear. I feel Chromium via snap is not very stable as it needs to be restarted frequently because it goes haywire after a very short time. Fortunately this isn't a big deal as I only use it for a few sites as Firefox is my primary browser. The Strawberry media player was also unstable via snap that I finally installed it directly and it has been rock stable since. I guess I'll have to do the same thing with Firefox if it proves to be unstable via snap.
Currently running KDE Neon 5.22.5 and 5.19.4 (with Windows 10 in a VM); migrated from Linux Mint 17.3

Using Ubuntu 22.04, I have found the snap version of Firefox to be unstable, with some quirky behaviour. I've moved over to opera for now.

What a pity!
I would change the OS I've had for years because that reason. |

You can disable snap and try with:

What about Flatpak? I'm using Flatpak versions for almost all my installed applications. Everything is working very well.
If Firefox comes as a Snap, i'll just uninstall it and use the Flatpak version instead. |

I personally use the stable Firefox version for my neon downloaded from Firefox official site. It is a tar.bz2 package and I receive updates when released instead of having to wait for "official ubuntu" versions. I have done this for 5 years now and have had 0 issues. I also remove any leftover traces of the "official" versions using apt autoremove --purge commands.
