Hello,

I use this alias to update my KDE neon:
Code: Select all
sudo pkcon refresh && sudo pkcon update ; flatpak update ; sudo snap refresh

I never had a problem with this method. Perfect.

But I ask myself if I should reboot after that, or in which case?

Thanks for your detailed explanation :)

I use more or less same method for updating.
I reboot when I see a big update, as when there is a Plasma's update.

Hi!

Depends on what is updated. Rebooting is only needed if there is a kernel or system library update. You can restart nearly everything so that you only have to reboot on a kernel update, but thats not easy using a Ubuntu basis, so I'll recommend the easier reboot here.
On Plasma updates its okay to just logout and login again to load the new stuff. For flatpak its enough to close and reopen the applications.

Also this is part of the firmware (which is closed source and out of reach). If you have a lot of unknown symbols in ACPI, services may drive crazy over time. On those systems reboot more often.
