First off, I am not well versed in using the command line to do what I want to do.

I have been searching in discover and online for an app that will create a bootable usb from an iso file. So far, I haven't found anything I could download and have it show up in the menu. I have used ddcopy in pclos but I don't know how to get it into kdeneon. Could someone point me in the right direction to get what I am looking for? It doesn't have to be ddcopy but I would rather have a gui type program.

I always use Balena etcher. You can get it as appimg https://www.balena.io/etcher/. Since it's an appimg, you'll have to create such an entry if you want it to show in your menu.

I looked at Balena etcher but I was not successful in getting it installed or if it was installed, I couldn't find the file to add it to the menu.

If I install an appimage where does it install to? What folder?

You don't install appimages, you simply double-click the file to run them. You may first need to right click the file and make sure to set it as executable under Properties >>Permissions

You can always make a menu entry if you like. https://imgur.com/a/dXDzGRH

Hi hjblue,
you can use the tool unetbootin to create a bootable live medium. It is unfortunately not included in official package sources.

Installation:
Code: Select all
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gezakovacs/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install unetbootin

Homepage of unetbootin: https://unetbootin.github.io/

you can find Isoimagewriter (Write ISO to USB drive) in the discover.
