We are just about ready to launch the rebase of KDE neon on Ubuntu 22.04 Firefox is the browser again now as a Snap package. This breaks plasma-browser-integration but is otherwise working fine. Release now with Snaps or spend a couple more weeks working on other package formats?

A Firefox as DEB would be very nice indeed

Personally, I uninstall the "Ubuntued" version of Firefox and download the tarball from the Mozilla Firefox official repos. No problems with it at all in the past 5 years. Ultimately the decision is up to the Development Team. I have no problem either way. This is such a small issue to me. I will continue to enjoy KDE neon for as long as the developers continue to provide such a nice non-distro os.

Just for test upgraded my Focal Neon User to Jammy. Snap Firefox also does not read your existing Firefox profile yet so... Got rid of snap altogether as much as possible and installed Firefox from mozillateam/ppa: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/how-to-install-firefox-deb-apt-ubuntu-22-04 You can't use Falkon instead of Firefox as it does not start due to qt version mismatch: Fatal: Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (5.15.5) with this library (5.15.6) |

Yes the PPA is working fine here. Vote for DEB.

I have never and will never have a Twitter account, so you've placed the survey out of my reach.
Since ~100% of users of Neon use the KDE Plasma desktop (there may be a few contrarians who use the KDE distro with another desktop just because), I would say to make the Firefox with OpenSUSE modifications for better integration with Plasma available as a .deb. These mods are IMO essential for using Firefox with Plasma, and they are already maintained and made available by OpenSUSE. They work far better than using the XDG desktop portal, and are obviously a better solution than just using the terrible (worst in class) GTK+ file load/save dialogs of unmodded Firefox when our native Plasma dialogs are the best of the best. The mods are also supposed to integrate better with Plasma MIME types, but I am not exactly sure how. The Firefox in the repos for various OpenSUSE versions has the mods installed already (for those OpenSUSE users who [oddly] do not use Plasma, they do nothing, and it just acts like regular Firefox), and OpenSUSE has been doing this for quite some time. It has been tested by their users for a long time, and it works well. The mods are also installed into the Waterfox builds from Hawkeye116477's repos for all distros. |

One vote more for .deb or PPA. Desktop integration that works right away is of great value |
