Hi! This is my entry to the wallpaper competition. The name of the picture is Crystal Valley, and features two versions: Moon, which is more detailed, and Stars, which has less detail.
It's released under the CC0 license. Motivation: The inspiration for the geometry of this piece is Bismuth crystals and Utah canyons. I tried my best to fit it to the description of breeze colours, geometric and abstract by using only simple shapes, using an off-shade of the primary plasma colour and mixing simple shapes and shadows with gradients. The other goals I focused on were "Soothing but not boring" and "Still good-looking with some desktop icons on top of it". I tried to achieve the first goal by using muted colors, rendering the shapes as if they had different materials, and rendering with soft shadows as not to make it too dramatic. As for the icon goal, I tried to vary shades of colours as to provide breaking backgrounds for applications. I've tried this with varying amount of details, but my skill doesn't quite hold up yet. I'm actually more satisfied with the less detailed one, but I'll include the other detailed version just because of the time it took. The less detailed picture features less blur, no grid, and no sparkles. The pictures were made in Inkscape with touchups done in Krita. I'm open to make any changes that the VDG would like to see, in case they want to use this picture, but slightly different. Moon, which is the one with more details: 720px: 5k: https://ibb.co/2hJy6sT Stars, which is the one with less details: 720px: 5k: https://ibb.co/g7PBQtb EDIT: Continued work has left me more satisfied. There is still more to be done, though, and I of course welcome any suggested changes. EDIT2: New day, new picture EDIT3: Final edits, included new entry and pictures, changed text.

Thanks! Note that imgur automatically converts large images to jpeg (presumably to save on bandwidth) so we still need a link to the .png version.

Hi Nathan,
Attached is a link to a .zip file where you'll find the current .svg and some .pngs of different sizes. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GwXsI ... oFNBgxeK6j |

I think I mentioned in the VDG that it might be cool to see some vibrancy in lighting added (not sure if it would work though). Good job!

Hi flipwise,
Indeed, some vibrancy would do it good. I've worked on the picture some more, and I'm far more satisfied with it. Please tell me what you would think makes it better. 720px: High resolution: https://ibb.co/ChBJTGN I'll also update the main post. |

I updated the picture again, and I'd love some feedback.
It particular, I feel like the structures are rather texture-less, and need some work, but I can't for the life of me find anything that I'm satisfied with in both looks and technique. If anyone has something they'd like to see, please don't hesitate to tell me! Anyway, here's the picture: 5k: https://ibb.co/6R4qcyJ |

Hi everyone,
This is the last edit that I have time to do. I'm also submitting another entry that are less detailed, as I felt it wasn't half bad. Please feel free to use the wallpapers even if I don't win.
