Mountains in the Night

Sat Jan 04, 2020 9:31 pm
Hi, here's my 3 submissions.
All are moutain-themed, by nightlight or daylight. ;D I had a hardtime choosing the versions I prefer !

The first 2 also exist in mobile size.

All are made in GIMP. I chose violet and indigo colors because those are beautiful colors I don't see that often in other submissions.
Will you spot the Konqi reference ?

I really love the blue and purple gradient in the first version, but I'm less of a fan of the lines in the sky. Are those supposed to be constellations? I feel like they could be made more subtle, rendered as star patterns, or even removed entirely.

Thank you very much !

That's right, I didn't know how to make constellations look good in this composition.
Here's an edited version. I think the collection of lighter triangles is enough to render a nightsky :)

This could be perfectly made into a wallpaper that changes with the time of the day. If there are 6 versions (Dawn, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening, Midnight), the appropriate one could be shown everytime, based on system time and geolocation-based sunrise/sunset data. The Sun or the Moon could be shown, or maybe not, just the colours.

It is amazing though.

Another idea: As Nate has already said, the stars in the sky could be actual dots, with very subtle, low-opacity triangles between them, marking the constellations. It would create a great contrast. Somewhat similar to Cluster.

This also signals the idea that Plasma 5.18 is rock-solid, like someone mentioned at Grand Canyon.

Seems like there might be problems with your image host. I don't see the images embedded in your post anymore.
