With the 4.8 release of Workspaces and Applications looming at the horizon, the Plasma developers have started their crusade to fix as many bugs as possible. However, to do so effectively they need to go through all the reports to:

  • Determine if a reported bug is already fixed;
  • Determine if a reported bug is a duplicate of other reports;
  • Determine if a bug is actually reproducible under the latest release;
  • Determine if a bug is not in KDE components, but rather in others (e.g. video drivers);
  • Determine if a bug is not the result of user error;
  • Find test cases that reproduce the bug.

All these elements come under the term of "triaging" and that's where you can help! Two days have been set to meet up on IRC, #plasma channel on Freenode: you can join and help the developers to go through bugs, discarding invalid and duplicate ones and providing test cases for others. This will help them a lot, because it will raise the signal-to-noise ratio, enabling them to find and fix issues faster.

There's no need to know coding or special procedures, only willingness to help. So join in!

Date and time

The two bug days will be held in #plasma, Freenode network, Friday December 2nd and Saturday December 3th, starting from 12 UTC and ending sometime in the evening UTC.
