I'm currently working on remastering Ubuntu 11.10 and want to use KDE as the default DE. The guide on their website (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization) is quite helpful for the basic stuff, and I have a disc to test. I'm able to edit the Gnome properties through editing certain files related to Gnome or Gconf, which changed the default settings upon install.

My question was how I could change these default settings for KDE. I've searched all over the file system and cannot seem to find anything that holds the default configuration files or anything of the sort. If anyone has any idea it would be quite helpful. Thanks.

In general with KDE you simply place skeleton configuration files under ~/.kde4/ in the skeleton home directory (usually /etc/skel). You might also be able to change it through /etc/kde/ to an extent as well - but I think the precise directory for that varies depending upon the distribution.

So far, I've found using /etc/skel to be the best option for most of the configurations. Thanks for the help.
