not really the right place (or forum, so I'm moving it to Operation Systems Specific -> Windows)
could you be a bit more specific, what exactly happens (or not), in either method (to disk or VBox) you boot from the cd and the install program should run |

well i have given up on virtual box i have a cd that i can select menu options from linux itself but i dont have a keyboard i can use to get to the boot menu, so i need to know how to install windows from the GUI linux and reformat all partitions and put windows on here directly
i went to the terminal and "sudo fdisk /dev/sda & sda1" and it deletes the only partitiion but when i go to windows install straight from there i get this when i hit install windows "no valid partitions found. setup is unable to continue"

I don't think you can install Windows "from the GUI linux" you need to install Window by booting from the Windows cd

the cd does not get booted from? don't you need to hit enter or something when it sees the cd, else it just continues booting from hd
Google'ing says you can install windows xp flash drive but never tried, you should find a more appropriate forum for this kind of thing |

You need to get a new CD from Windows. That one appears to be past its sell by date/scratched.
