Hello there,
A little while ago I downloaded KDE for Windows 4.10.2 using the installer GUI from http://windows.kde.org I selected the 'download from the internet' option and selected what I wanted to install. The installer completed with a success message however the installer did not create a start menu sub group or any other links to the KDE install or apps. Attempting to start KDE using klauncher.exe (which I assume is the startup program?) gives me a command window for a few secs which disappears without any error messages. KDE does not start... Trying to start an app like Amarok fails as well, Amarok appears to attempt to start KDE (which fails) and then it comes up with a "this program has encountered a problem and will close message" So far this looks like a waste of several hundred mb's on a load of junk.. I have win XP SP3 Any help would be appreciated |

I don't really know much (or anything) about KDE on windows... but this much: klauncher is not meant to be run by you, and is not supposed to start "KDE" (not entirely sure what you expected it to do though). You most likely want to start an individual application, like kate or amarok or so.
From the other things you described it sounds like something went wrong with your installation. Did you retry with conservative settings in the installer (with whatever interpretation of that you can come up with)? Did you try running another application, except amarok? Try kate, for example, or dolphin. Is there a more detailed error message, or a backtrace? Greetings, Sven
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.
