After connecting to the remote windows desktop and attempt to start a terminal session there using client access yields the message PCSKBD110- The keyboard (type = 0, subtype = 0 ) is not supported. Oddly this only happens when staring the a terminal session when none are running. If a terminal connection to the AS400 is already running on the remote windows computer when the remote desktop is started everything is fine. I am using UBUNTU 14-04.

Can you please clarify what you're trying to achieve?
I assume you're using an application called "IBM Client Access" on Kubuntu to connect to a (corporate provided) Windows desktop? Based on the message provided, you might want to try changing your keyboard layout - but this is a pure guess as i've never heard of IBM Client Access before.

'IBM Client Access' is a windows on the remote windows machine that is used to connect to an AS400 with 5250 terminal emulation. This program on the remote windows box is getting the key board error. When using windows remote desktop to connect to the remote windows computer the error does not occur. Apparently client access is querying the remote machine for the key board type and is not getting a good answer to the program will not start.

I'm afraid i'm not sure we'll be able to assist you much here. To confirm - a Windows application doesn't work if launched locally, but if the same application is launched via Remote Desktop it works fine? Sounds like you need to ask IBM support for assistance in this instance.

Hi
I'm getting the same problem, but using Remmima from Ubuntu14.04. This has been the case for some years now, when using Client Access for Windows via a remote desktop connection from Ubuntu. Previously, I've worked around it by using Vinagre in place of Remmina, but Vinagre doesn't seem to work after uprading to 14.04. It's annoying because I can get through just fine from a Windows machine. And Vinagre was doing something that Remmina wasn't. Something in Ubuntu is not setting the keyboard type and subtype correctly. |

How are you accessing the Windows machine? Via RDP or VNC?
Have you also tried using KRDC (KDE application supporting VNC/RDP)?
