I installed KDE (all packages) on Windows 7 64bits on an HP EliteBook 8570p (CPU intel i7, 8Go of ram, 8 Go of free space on windows part, GPU AMD Radeon HD 7570M)
and when i try to launch kdeinit4.exe i got that message:
Code: Select all
Warning: QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplicati
on. Application may misbehave.

and it's not doing anything else.
I still can start kate or Ktorrent.
I really need help because i hate the windows interface and i'm relatively new on windows 7 (i was on win 2k 6 month ago).
I hope that i give enough info.
Thanks

That warning message can be safely ignored. In terms of kdeinit4.exe - it should go into the background almost immediately. What happens when you try to launch other KDE applications - do they just hang at the terminal as well?

Also, where did you install KDE on Windows from?

It's wont go into the background the console stay here with the message and nothing else append
I tried Ktorrent , KMahjongg and Kate and they work fine
I downloaded it from France on the World Wide server (it's the only one on the list)
I still can't use plasma (maybe i don't try the good things to start it).

Plasma Desktop isn't really intended for use on Windows at this time i'm afraid.
As for kdeinit4 - can you check to see if there are dbus-daemon.exe, kdeinit4.exe or klauncher.exe processes running already?

Okay. If you terminate those processes and try to relaunch kdeinit4.exe, does that help?

You do not need to run kdeinit4 yourself.
This was originally used to improve startup time of KDE applications, but the speedup is not much.
plasma itself is far from usable, so no need to start plasma on windows.
This also means that you can kill the kdeinit4.exe window without problems, because kdeinit4 will always be restarted if needed.
If you do not start kdeinit4 yourself, but it is started on every startup, please open the windows settings dialog from KDE system settings (or run kcmshell4.exe platform from commandline) and deselect the last entry (it is called "load KDE at startup" or something like that).
I hope that helps.
