Hi,

Trying Kdenlive 18.08 with Windows 10 and got "This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized" error launching the "kdenlive.exe" file.

Similar problem in "https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=151219".

Just checking whether this error might happens in Beta phase.

Thanks,

Marcelo.

I can understand how you got here. I ended up in this forum twice, because there is no Windows subsection on the Kdenlive subforum.

There is, however, a Windows thread in the General Discussion started a week ago. It basically just says to go here:

https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Windows_Issues

Before I found the above out I managed to fix the error on my own... since I am running Windows 7 and have used previous versions of Kdenlive on my windows system I could fix it by

Exiting Kdenlive
Opening RUN from the start menu
typing: %appdata%
renaming the kdenlive folder in the explorer window that appears
...and then reopening Kdenlive.

If you lose any presiouc configurations by doing that you can go back to the first step and name the kdenlive folder back replacing the new one the new version made, but then you will have to check the links above for other solutions.

For me, renaming/deleting the kdenliverc file in the AppData\Local folder solved the problem.

I'm using a standalone. Where can I find these files in order to do those edits?
