I'm wondering if there is a way to install KDE 3.x on a Windows XP Home system. I'm wanting to put Tellico on my main desktop and it doesn't work with KDE 4 yet. I have tried other programs similar to Tellico, but I really like it's interface and features.

KDE 3.x is dependant upon Qt 3. Qt 3 has only ever been released under the proprietary license on Windows, which is also true for Mac OS X, therefore KDE 3 cannot be compiled on Windows.
the only reason KDE 3 could be installed on Mac OS X, was because the GPL version of Qt 3 was compatible with any Unix system with an X server ( which Mac OS X is ) The KDE 3 build system is also heavily tied to Unix, so even having a Proprietary version of Qt 3 won't help.

you can try andlinux http://www.andlinux.org/ but it's not really the same as having a 100% native app

last time I've tried kde3 on cygwin was really really slow, I haven't tried andlinux myself, but it should be a lot faster since it's based on colinux

ok-
I installed andLinux, and used the menu icon in the taskbar to launch the synamtic manager, and installed Tellico. However, it is not in the menu, nor anywhere else I can find. I'm not sure if I'm doing things right or not. Is there supposed to be more than a menu icon in the taskbar? Is there a way to get Tellico in the menu? Thanks, mnielsen1984

Assuming the icon in the taskbar is on your Windows Explorer Quick Launcher, you should be able to right click on the shortcut and go copy. Then in a file manager browser to the location below and paste it [code]%SYSTEMROOT%/Documents And Settings/
