Plasma desktop problem

Mon Dec 22, 2008 9:13 pm
I'm running WinXP 64-bit, and have kde 4.1.3 freshly installed.
Whenever I try and run plasma.exe, it shows an error dialog saying "URL cannot be listed. Desktop:/". After clicking "OK" the plasma desktop appears but is unresponsive.

Sounds like the Desktop KIO slave isn't installed or cannot be found. Check to make sure you have the relevant kdebase-* packages ( runtime in particular )

It's a known problem. If you want to use Plasma (who doesn't? :D) use 4.1.2. :)

the desktop kioslave wasn't yet ported at that time, but anyway it's just for the folderview applet, we still don't know why plasma doesn't work in 4.1.3

Ok, I'll try that. Thank you.[hr]
Ok. I've switched to 4.1.2, and it works very well. Thanks.
