I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate using an Active Directory and every time I try to install KDE for Windows it errors with "update-mime-database.exe has stopped working" the error code in the event viewer is:

Code: Select all

can you please post this bug into http://bugs.kde.org against the installer? I am afraid we can't fix this bug very soon, but we want to at least keep track of it.

I get the same error. It occurs when installation finishes and it doesn't seem to cause any problems.

I am running Vista 32bit Business Edition, and the KDE installer that I'm running is "KDE Installer for Windows", v0.9.5.

Ok, seems I found the original problem - it will need some time, probably until 4.2.1 but I am sure we can fix it.
In the time until then, please download this package http://winkde.org/pub/kde/ports/win32/r ... .4-bin.zip and unpack it into your kderoot.
Then please open a cmd.exe window and navigate to your KDE installation:
Code: Select all
C:KDE4>binupdate-mime-database.exe C:KDE4sharemime
C:KDE4>binkbuildsycoca4 --noincremental

After you did that (ignore all the output), it should be working again.
