Hi,
it seems amarok (recently?) requires embedded mysql to work, which is not yet integrated in the emerge build scripts on Win32:

The amarok team just changed the storage backend with the latest beta release of amarok2. It may take some time, till the kde windows guy get the new packages for the dependencies ready.
You may want to file a bug at http://bugs.kde.org to bring it to their attention (just for the case they don't know already). If you do so, make sure to select "Windows binaries" as distribution method and "installer" as application.

Ok, just to make it clear:
I need to rebuild the mingw package thus building amarok with mingw is currently not working. I will add the mysqle package _after_ I could build mysqle with mingw for both compilers. If you currently have msvc and you do want to build amarok, you should download the current mysqle packages from http://saroengels.net/kde-windows/gnuwin32/ (the -bin *and* the -lib package) and unpack those two into your kderoot. After that building amarok should work.

Yes, that seems to have worked!
Building amarok right now. I really love building with emerge, makes it much easier than doing it all by yourself, as has been the case with the early versions...

Ok, seems I got amarok *building* with mysqld on mingw again.
I am currently uploading a new mysql-embedded package. I will add mysql-embedded to emerge soon too. Sorry for the inconvenience.
