Hi there !
So I'm using KDE4.3 with Windows XP and I can't get any pictures on my wallpaper with Plasma : the pattern do work, but not the pictures, nor the slideshows... I can select a wallpaper or a directory, but the background is nothing but a single color. Virus works, Color also, and so does pattern, but there is never any picture on the background. And the file picker for the pictures has a strange display - every widgets of the window is too small... too much to choose any file. I also noticed that, when selecting a wallpaper, the resolution of them is allways set at "0x0". This is not the case when I just laucnh plasmawallpaperviewer.exe, which show me a true resolution and actually show me the wallapaper in background. Am I the only one with that kind of bug ? |

it's a known bug, even if I tought that it was solved in qt 4.5, try to set QT_PLUGIN_PATH to KDEDIR/plugins

It's a key for the register right ?
Regedit doesn't find it (I also searched in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Trolltech.and I get nothing like that). Where should it be ? |

No, it is an environment variable.
connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));

The 4.4 branch is already being ported to Windows ?
Is there a server from which we can download it ? |

No, the author of the video compiled from sources using emerge: http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started ... ows/emerge |

we don't port each branch every time, we use the same code for all platforms, so 4.4 works on windows, but we don't have packages for that since it's still too early, 4.3 instead will be packaged when it comes out in around 1 week

I've been using KDE on WinXP for some time now, and each new release I pull up plasma to see where things are at, and for starters I have to say that I'm definitely impressed with plasma on KDE 4.3. I'd say that it is practically stable and usable enough for casual use. All previous versions would crash a couple of times before I finished my initial customizations (if they even rendered properly).
One thing in particular is that for the first time it will actually show the wall paper I have selected! Kudos! Now, the next step is to get the wallpaper to show up on both of my monitors . I have two monitors and the wallpaper only shows up on the first of the two. At least the plasma desktop properly handles the two monitors, recognizing the boundary between the two and moving plasmoids to one or the other if they are placed on the boundary (which is not new to this release, but still nice).

Strangely, the wallpaper does show up on the second monitor after restarting plasma (or after something or other causes plasma on that monitor to refresh), so I have the wallpaper on both monitors now.
I have been using plasma over top of the windows shell practically non-stop since the last post without any crashes! Once again kudos to all the KDE for Windows developers! I do have one small problem, though: panels never show up. I try adding them and it resizes maximized windows, but they don't actually appear. I ended up just manually editing my plasma-appletsrc file and deleting them there.
