Hello. I need to know if kdebase-apps for Windows installs any kernel-mode device drivers or disk and volume mounting-related utilities.
Thanks in advance for answers. |

Well, since there're no sources for Windows kernel noone actually wants to write kernel modules on Windows
No, kde on windows doesn't install any drivers on your system. No disk mounting are installed. KDE uses Windows' native API to implement needed functionality. As for registry entries there're only few ones you have access to and you can control using the Platform entry of your SystemSettings (installed with kdebase-workspace package). |

Thx. You might be curious why I ask this question.
I was trying to make portable version of Konqueror for windows using VMware Thinapp. Konqueror portable did not work. Im sure that i did evrything alright, I tried several times. Thinapp manual says that it cant create a portabble app if it installs any device driver or disk/volume mounting tools. I noticed following topic: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=78486 After reading it seems to me that there is no need of doing that. Ill try simple installation of kdebase-apps on pendrive and ill try to use it on other computers. But now Im lacking a spare pendrive so it will take a while. Thanks |

btw it's kernel mode drivers not kernel modules, you can have both kernel mode and user mode drivers on windows
