For kicks I decided to replace my Windows shell with KDE. It works perfectly except for three problems that I can't seem to find solutions for:
1) I am missing the System Tray and Task List plasmoids (I can't remember the name of the task list one off the top of my head, maybe it's Task list). I can't seem to find downloads for them (I assume it's because they are supposed to come in the base plasmoid package). 2) I can't figure out how to add programs to kickoff launcher. After some searching I'm guessing that this isn't supported in windows yet? 3) Applications like to start BEHIND the plasma desktop, is there some way I can change this so I don't have to alt+tab to them? I am actually very impressed at how well this works, and how stable it is (for the most part). =) |

Well, it's nice that you find Plasma for Windows stable because, on the contrary, KDE for Windows developers advertise it as highly experimental (it's not even in the menu as long as I remember)!
And yes, all those missing plasmoids and options are because nobody is actively developing Plasma in Windows other than some bugfixes. System Tray and Task List of course need a developer willing to write new Windows backends: you know, Windows doesn't manage tray and tasks as Linux! |

That's what I was afraid of. Well thank you for the response!
And yes, it has been pretty stable for me. Only crashed twice so far, and that's because of something that I did. =) |
