I can't get trash to work in KDE 4.3.4 on Windows XP 32bit. I get the error "cannot load library kcm_trash" and reinstalling does not fix the problem.
Has anyone had this problem and know's how to fix it? Which package contains the trash function? |

Thanks for your reply.
It is strange because in Dolphin I can drag files onto trash and it works. However, when I right click on a file, the 'send to trash' option is not available (dulled out) and the 'cut' option is also dulled out. |

After reinstalling kdewin-1.0.0 deleting from Dolphin is not possible any more.
Going to Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> Trash... the following message appears:
When trying to move something to trash, the following message pops up: "The process for the trash protocol died unexpectedly." I looked after some "leftovers" from my previous instalation, but I cannot find them in C:/ProgramData/KDE. As I am very fond of Dolphin and its options for handling files, I would very much apreciate your help in solving the problem. Thank you! |

Can you please search for anything named "trash" underneath the directory where you have KDE on Windows installed? It sounds like parts of kde-runtime may be missing.

Ok. A search after *trash* got, except for the .png files, this results:
ktrash in C:\ProgramData\KDE\bin kcmtrash.desktop in C:\ProgramData\KDE\share\kde4\services directory.trash in C:\ProgramData\KDE\share\apps\kio_desktop trash.protocol in C:\ProgramData\KDE\share\kde4\services x-trash in C:\ProgramData\KDE\share\mime\application |

Okay, it appears you have an incomplete installation. Please reinstall the "kde-runtime" package in the KDE on Windows installer - hopefully this will fix the issue.
