I have set the directory c:\program files\kde4 as the installation directory after it presented c:\users\<USER>\Downloads\kde4 as the installtion directory - which makes really no sense.
The installtion went fine. However it installed to 'c:\users\<USER>\Downloads\kde4'. Now I am unsinstalling it again and wait for a hint to make it really install to the Program Files directory. An ideas? Matthias

I tried it again with 4.4.0, but this time the installer forces an installation into 'c:\program files\firefox' which must fail because it is not running with the according rights.
The target directory for installation is prechosen to c:\program files\firefox and any change of the dir is completely neglected by the program. Any ideas? (Filed as bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=229711)

The installer will present two different paths during the installation: one is the path that the files are downloaded to (usually <user's Application Data>\KDE4 or similar), the other is the path that the packages are installed to (c:\Program Files\KDE4).
I'm not sure why it would be trying to download or install anything to c:\Program Files\firefox, since that directory path is meant for another program (firefox, obviously). I suppose you can try deleting any KDE-related directories and config files (KDE doesn't touch the registry, so nothing to do there. You're probably safe leaving the .kde directory since this isn't used by the installer) there may be (and re-download the installer, just in case) and try again.

The firefox folder comes up since I downloaded and executed the installer from within firefox. If I start the installer from the downloaded directory the install-to dir is the directory where the installer is located.
The .kde file is containing correct path. The problem is, that the installer is completely ignoring any directory I specify. It would be interesting if other people are experiencing the same problem or if it is just me. In the first case this bug should obviously be fixed.
