i am running windows vista on an asus laptop machine with 64 bit cpu and os and 4gig ram. is it possible to run kde 4.4.4 on said machine and if so how do i download and install, also does it have the same apps as the open suse 11.2 version? i run kde 4.0 on my linux machine, but i need to keep windows on my laptop for the gov. programs that wont compat. to linux. i would like t run kde on my laptop. to make things easier. thanks for any help.

Yes it is possible to get KDE running on Windows. Just hop over to http://windows.kde.org/ and download and run the installer. It will come with all of the standard KDE apps (including Amarok, excluding Koffice at this time. The installer will let you pick which packages you want to install). KWin hasn't been ported (yet), so you will need to run the standard Windows shell (explorer.exe) but all of the applications are fully usable (although stability is often questionable - until further notice, KDE on Windows is considered Beta quality). You can even run Plasma-desktop on top of the standard Windows desktop to get all of the plasma goodness.

ok i installed kde through kde installer it went fine untill the end then it started shuting down windows for errors. if i go into search and search kde it brings up all the files but no exe files. no way of installing kde.

ifound the files i windows search but i dont know how to use them, since there ae no exe. files. when i downloaded with the kde download tool i kept comming up with windows stopped this program. i cant find help files that deals with this problem.
